More than just exercises
During the session, I show the exercises and stretches. It is important that I am able to show my clients and correct them as they do the movement because when the body is unbalanced, our body awareness can be low so we think we do the exercises right but in fact, the brain use the easy pathway in order to create the movement.
REPETITION IS THE KEY
- So I demonstrate: I demonstrate the movements for you.
- I correct as you do the movement: I provide corrections and guidance as you perform the movements.
- I teach you how to do your own Myofascial release at home: I provide instruction on performing Myofascial release techniques at home.
- I create a program adjusted for your needs for you to do at home: I develop a personalized program tailored to your needs that you can follow at home.
What is a Movement Restoration Coach?
MRC is a mix of physiotherapy and personal training.
There is 3 different levels:
- Injury prevention: This is what I want to focus on with any of my clients because PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE! As a MRC, I assess, manage, and prevent injuries. My screening tests will help me judge if I should refer or if I can treat and prescribe stretches and corrective exercises.
- Rehab express: Here I identify the muscle imbalances in the entire body. There are specific common patterns that people have that result in pain and injuries. Previous injuries can also lead to future injuries when they are not treated properly. The human body is AMAZING. It will adapt and stop the pain, but it doesn’t mean the problem is solved. Tensions are accumulated elsewhere. The human body will cope with it until something simple or traumatic happens, and that’s when issues will start.
- Rehab training: This is the part where I make my clients work out. The idea is to switch the brain on where it was off for so many years. We can retrain the brain, create new neuro pathways to rehabilitate the inactivated muscles. In group sessions or during the Remedial treatment, I get my clients to move. My exercises are specific to the muscles I want to correct.
